Decal images

A number of our decals have white surrounds. Depending on a number of variables, the white may or may not show up well on paper. Once in the water, the white pops out.

Decal Application Instructions

All of our decals are waterslide transfer. Due to their small size and conformity to complex surfaces (read: they are thin) they are best handled and slid into position with fine tweezers and a paint brush. All of our decals are coated to be resistant to ultraviolet light. That said, exposure to direct sunlight for long periods is still not advised.

To apply.

bulletBe sure the area to receive the decal is clean of loose material.
bulletTrim the area close to the outer edge of the image. The closer, the neater the application.
bulletPut the decal in tepid water for about 15-25 seconds. This should permit easy application without diluting the bonding adhesive excessively.
bulletApply on your model - brush on - your preferred decal setting solution where the decal will be placed. Microscale's products are very good and readily available at well stocked hobby shops.
bulletRemove the decal (on its' carrier paper) from the water with tweezers.
bulletUsing a paint brush, slide the decal off the paper and into approximate position. Manipulate the decal as needed. Paint brushes, one supple, the other stiffer, work well here. Be sure the area of the decal has setting solution. Keep your fingers off the decals at this point, oils from your hands can play havoc later.
bulletWhen decal is properly positioned, use a paint brush to hold it in place and blot gently. Q-Tips, clean cloths, thin cotton section of a T shirt all work well here. Do not use a wiping motion, the decal will shift. Rather, use a padding or rolling motion.
bulletGive the decal a few minutes to set, then apply a small amount of setting solution. Gently blot this as well, leaving the surface damp.
bulletWhen the decal is dry, it is ok to seal with commercial sealing products. Many different suggestions abound, check with your local shop or a newsgroup.
bulletPlease note: Lacquer based products such as Testor's DullCoat, while performing very well, also are solvents for everything the decal is and forever will be. Spraying DullCoat on generally has little to no risk, but be very prudent when brushing it on, otherwise your work becomes a runny mess.  (Please note, this problem concerns all decals, not just our product. Ours are more susceptible due to a very thin and conformal topcoat)
